The post-editing discussion continues

I recently came across this interesting SlatorPod interview with Jakub Absolon, CEO of ASAP-translation.com, where he shares his views on machine translation post-editing. Jakub argues there are three types of translation: raw machine translation; post-edited machine translation, and human translation, and delves into the problems of calling a service full post editing, which he considers just another way of saying “translation”. His analysis of what “good enough” and “desired level” is also useful as he pokes holes in the use of imprecise terms being bandied about while being expected to meet expectations with no definitions.
